History of Californium***2
Californium was initially produced by the University of California, Berkeley scientists Stanley G. Thompson, Kenneth Street, Jr., Albert Ghiorso and Glenn T. Seaborg in ***0. It was the sixth transuranium element found. The discovery announcement was made on March *7, ***0. The proposal to give the element number *8 the name californium (Cf) is based on the place of discovery.
